Image
Pakistan’s taekwondo team made history at the 6th Asian Open (Kyorugi) Taekwondo Championship in Indonesia, securing the championship title with an impressive tally of three gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. This achievement marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time both male and female athletes from Pakistan have accomplished such a feat at an international taekwondo event abroad. In a fiercely contested championship, Pakistan clinched first place, followed by Kazakhstan in second and Malaysia in third. The event, held from October 14 to 17, showcased the rising talent of Pakistani athletes on the Asian stage. On Thursday, Haroon Khan delivered a standout performance in the -58kg category, defeating compatriot Abubakar to win gold. Khan won the final with scores of 6-4 and 9-7, showcasing his skill and determination throughout the match. In the women’s -73kg final, Manisha Ali also triumphed, earning gold after defeating Indonesia's Paramata Sari 4-1 an

2nd Test: Pakistan set England to chase 297

Image
Pakistan set a 297-run target for England after grabbing a handy lead of 296 runs with the help of Salman Agha's 63 in their second innings on day three of the second test in Multan on Thursday. Pakistan’s top order slumped after England's Shoaib Bashir took three crucial wickets of Abdullah Shafique (4), Saim Ayub (22) and skipper Shan Masood (11), while he also removed Noman Ali (1). Jack Leach also played his part for his side by sending off Kamran Ghulam (26), Saud Shakeel (31), and Aamer Jamal (1) which further dimmed the chances of resistance from the hosts. However, Salman took the charge and responsibly brought Men in Green back to the game to stretch the lead by smashing 63 runs off 89 balls. Brydon Carse ended Salman’s innings in 58th over, who also grabbed the key wicket of wicketkeeper-cum-batsman Mohammad Rizwan in 31st over. After grabbing a crucial lead of 75 runs against England, Pakistan was hit with challenges, slumping to 77-4 in their second innings.

2nd Test: Sajid Khan's seven-wicket haul bundles England out for 291

Image
England were dismissed for 291 on Thursday, largely due to Sajid Khan’s outstanding bowling performance, claiming seven wickets in the first innings. Resuming at 239-6, Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse were at the crease, but both batsmen failed to provide much resistance. England’s innings quickly wrapped up, with Jack Leach remaining unbeaten on 25. Pakistan now hold a lead of 75 runs after their first-innings total of 366. A day earlier, England had taken control of the match with Ben Duckett’s century leading the visitors’ strong response to Pakistan’s opening score. However, Sajid's brilliance has turned the tide in Pakistan's favor. The right-arm off-break bowler dismissed centurion Duckett, Harry Brook, Joe Root and Ollie Pope to turn the tide in favour of the hosts. Before that, the Shan Masood-led side got out for 366 with debutant Kamran Ghulam top-scoring for the hosts with a fluent 118 and Saim Ayub contributing 77. Lionel Messi ties Cristiano Ronaldo's record as Argentina beat Bolivia 6-0

Image
Argentine fooball legend Lionel Messi on Tuesday equalled Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo's record for most international hat-tricks as he scored his 10th such hat-trick. Messi, 36, achieved the latest feat as his national team thrashed Bolivia 6-0 in South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in front of a home crowd at the Monumental stadium and helped score two more goals. In only his second international appearance since recovering from an injury sustained at the Copa America in July, the Inter Miami star capitalised on a mistake by defender Marcelo Suarez to open the scoring in the 19th minute. Bolivia goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra made a couple of fine saves to prevent the hosts from extending their lead but he was beaten in the 43rd minute when Lautaro Martinez scored from Messi's quick cross. Argentina made it 3-0 just before the break, with Messi setting up Julian Alvarez to score. The eight-time Ballon d'Or award winner completed the hat-tr

How to get rid of bleach stains?

Chlorine, that ubiquitous defender against bacteria in pools, can sometimes become a nuisance outside the water. If it finds its way onto your clothing or other surfaces, it can leave behind unsightly bleach stains. Learn how to get rid of bleach stains, ensuring your items look as good as new. What Causes Bleach Stains? Understanding what causes bleach stains is crucial for effectively removing them and preventing future mishaps. Bleach stains are not just ordinary stains; they are the result of a chemical reaction between bleach and the dyes in fabrics. Bleach, especially chlorine bleach, is a powerful oxidizing agent. When it comes into contact with the dyes in clothes, it breaks down their molecular bonds. This reaction causes the color to fade or disappear, leading to what we identify as bleach stains. This reaction is more pronounced with excess bleach or when bleach is left on the fabric for an extended period. Factors Influencing Bleach Stains Fabric type: The suscept

Swedish prosecutor confirms ‘rape’ probe without naming Mbappe

Swedish prosecutors confirmed on Tuesday a rape probe following media reports that French footballer Kylian Mbappe was being investigated after a visit to Stockholm but did not name the suspect. On Monday, Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen reported that a rape investigation had been opened following Mbappe’s two-day visit to the Nordic capital. “In response to media reports about a suspected rape in Stockholm, the prosecutor can confirm that a criminal report has been submitted to the police,” Sweden’s Prosecution Authority said in a statement. It added that the alleged incident occurred at a hotel on October 10, but did not name a suspect and said no further information could be shared for the moment. Expressen on Monday identified Mbappe as the suspect, citing anonymous sources, while Aftonbladet said on Tuesday it had also obtained information confirming Mbappe was the suspect. WHO approves Bavarian Nordic's mpox vaccine for adolescents

Image
The World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Monday it had approved Bavarian Nordic's mpox vaccine for adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, an age group considered especially vulnerable to outbreaks of the disease that has triggered global concern. The WHO said in a statement that it gave the Jynneos vaccine prequalification for adolescents on October 8. The WHO declared mpox a global public health emergency for the second time in two years in August after a new type of the virus spread from the Democratic Republic of Congo to its neighbours. The United Nations agency approved the use of the vaccine in September as the first shot against mpox in adults, making it easier for badly hit African countries to access the vaccine. Children, adolescents and those with weakened immune systems have been particularly vulnerable to mpox, a viral infection that typically causes flu-like symptoms and skin lesions filled with pus. WHO's latest decision comes after the EU approved the drug f

Nasser Hussain criticises Babar Azam’s exclusion from mid-series

Image
Former England captain Nasser Hussain criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the board announced the exclusion of the former skipper Babar Azam from the second Test against England. The former English captain highlighted the inconsistency of the board, which makes it hard to predict the future of the national team. In regard to this he stated that there have been significant changes in the team, adding that constant upheaval hinders long-term planning. “Pakistan has seen the replacement of 27 selectors, frequent changes in board heads, and the shifting of team captains, which has disrupted stability within the organisation,” he said. "No institution can succeed with such frequent changes." Continuing his conversation, the 56-year-old expressed dissatisfaction with the exclusion of the star batter Babar Azam. He said: “After witnessing just one poor performance, how can you exclude someone in the mid of the series. Also, such decisions should be taken either

England captain Stokes back from injury for second Pakistan Test

Image
Captain Ben Stokes was named in the England team for the second Test against Pakistan starting in Multan on Tuesday after recovering from a hamstring injury. Stokes suffered the injury two months ago and missed the three-match home series against Sri Lanka and last week’s first Test, which the visitors won by an innings. Durham seamer Matthew Potts also returns to the side for the first time since the Lord’s Test against Sri Lanka at the end of August. Seamers Gus Atkinson and Chris Woakes are rested. "Look, it’s obviously got to be sensible," said talismanic all-rounder Stokes on Monday after he was declared fit, having been bowling in the nets since before the first Test. "I’m obviously playing as a third seamer. "I’m available to bowl and obviously when I sense the time is right for me to maybe come on and make an impact there won’t be any doubts in my mind that I can come on and bowl." The Sri Lankan all-rounder won from fellow nominees Travis Head of Australia and compatriot Prabath Jayasuriya, while Beaumont overcame Ireland's Aimee Maguire and UAE's Esha Oza to win September’s prize. According to the ICC statement, Mendis' win also caps

How to improve skin tone appearance on camera

Image
You have that certain picture you're proud to display. While you hide your driver's license photo, this is the shot you keep framed on your mantle or use for your social-networking profile. You love the way you look in it, but you can't quite figure out why it's perfect. Though cameras and lighting play a big part when it comes to your appearance in a picture, they don't entirely make or break the shot. Sometimes, pictures taken in a photographer's studio can't compare to ones you catch on the fly with your cell phone camera. What gives? The difference between a bad picture and a beautiful one may have something to do with your skin tone. It's not just lighting and angles that affect your appearance on camera. You may have noticed before that some clothes just seem to pop when you wear them -- you look great, you feel great and you receive tons of compliments. Then, you wear the same outfit in a different color, and your skin looks paler and your ma

Top-ranked Jannik Sinner beats Novak Djokovic to win Shanghai Masters final

According to the provincial health official, last year, 140 cases were received by the SIDH and 52 of them could not make it. Whereas, over 10 kids were under treatment at the hospital at the moment, they added. However, following the publishing of this report, the Sindh Health Department later claimed that only 28 children, not 100, lost their lives in 2024. Young pacer Naseem Shah and experienced wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz are also not part of the team. "Taking into consideration the current form and fitness of key players and looking ahead to Pakistan’s future assignments in the 2024-25 international cricket season, the selectors have decided to give rest to Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Shaheen Shah Afridi," a statement released by the cricket governing body read. It stated that the four players have been replaced by Haseebullah, Mehran Mumtaz, fast bowler Mohammad Ali, off-spinner Sajid Khan and all uncapped Kamran Ghulam. 'Out-of-form' Babar Azam likely to be 'rested' for second Test

Image
As the second Test match between Pakistan and England approaches, star batter Babar Azam is likely to be rested for the upcoming match. The second Test between the two teams is set to take place from October 15-19 at the Multan Cricket Stadium, while the announcement of the squad is likely to be made today. Several changes, as per the sources, are expected in the Pakistani squad, which will be announced following an approval from Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Insiders said the suggestion to rest "out-of-form" former captain has been given by the selectors due to his below-the-par performance in the first Test match with the English side. They added that both the Green Shirts and England will practice for the upcoming Test today at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Moreover, Green Shirts are also likely to include two spinners to the squad and left arm spinner Noman Ali and off-spinner Sajid Khan are being considered in this regard. It may be noted that leg-s

Mickey Arthur points out major issues with Pakistan cricket

Image
Former Pakistan cricket coach Mickey Arthur has expressed concerns over the impact of excessive promotion of players, stating that it distances them from reality and makes them believe they are more important than they actually are. Following Pakistan's defeat to England, Arthur shared his thoughts on social media, praising the players' skills but also highlighting several factors that negatively affect the team's morale and performance. Arthur emphasised that Pakistan’s players are exceptionally talented and deserving of their spots on the team. However, he stressed that in order to improve performance, consistency in selection, environment, and administration is crucial. "The players are very, very skilled and are the right ones," Arthur said. "The inconsistency around selection, environment, and administration plays a role in team morale, give the players structure, and they will perform." Arthur also pointed out the harmful role of media-drive

Women's T20 World Cup: NZ beat Sri Lanka to stay in semi-final picture

Image
New Zealand eased past winless Sri Lanka in Sharjah on Saturday to keep alive their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the Women's T20 World Cup. Set a target of 115, New Zealand cruised to victory. Georgia Plimmer, a 20-year-old opener, hit 53 before captain Sophie Devine smashed the only six of the match to take her team to 118 for two with 15 balls left. New Zealand stayed third in Group A behind Australia, who have won all their games, and India, who have a superior run rate despite New Zealand's late surge on Saturday. Devine said the White Ferns did not discuss run rate before starting their chase. "We know that winning the game was the most important thing," she said. Australia and India meet in their last group game on Sunday. New Zealand face Pakistan on Monday. "We see how results play out tomorrow and we have our final game against Pakistan and by that point we'll know exactly where we stand an what´s going to be required," said De

How to clean white shoes: 4 totally tested methods

Image
Nothing looks sharper than bright white shoes, but it can be a real trial to keep them that way. Especially when your white shoes face everyday threats like mud puddles, pollen and regular old dirt. While some people only shop for bargain white shoes, others drop serious money on theirs. For example, Air Jordan 1 Mid "Triple White" Shoes retailed for $110 plus tax when they were released back in 2020 (now they retail for about $160!). Since many sneakerheads have multiple pairs, it pays to protect the investment and keep those kicks clean. Many experts suggest storing shoes in a dust-free environment, inside of a shoebox and with shoe covers to protect them. Sneaker protector spray is another excellent option that'll keep them cleaner, longer. It's important to know what you're doing when cleaning white shoes, however. A misstep one way or the other can leave them looking yellowed, overly bleached or unevenly clean. No one wants that! Here are some tried-and-

'Bowlers and pitch' take fall as Shan Masood deflects blame after England's tout

Image
Skipper Shan Masood lamented the team's inability to secure a win after a disheartening defeat to England in the first Test in Multan, where they failed to capitalize on a strong first-innings total of 550. England triumphed by an innings and 47 runs. The defeat marked Pakistan's sixth consecutive loss in Test cricket. It is worth noting that Pakistan is the first team in 147 years in the history of Tests to lose by an innings after scoring 500 runs. Reflecting on the match, Masood noted, “We’ve spoken about the third innings or fourth innings, but at the end of the day, it’s a team game. Everything has its advantages or repercussions as a team. When you put up 550 on the board, it’s important to back it up with 10 wickets.” Despite managing only 220 runs in their second innings, the hosts struggled to dismiss England's batsmen, ultimately falling short. With Abrar Ahmed sidelined on Day 5, Pakistan's bowlers couldn't find a way to penetrate England’s batting

Jack Leach was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets in Pakistan's second innings to help wrap up the match. Despite brief resistance from Aamer Jamal, who top-scored with 55, Pakistan could not overcome England's imposing lead. England's bowlers, especially Leach and Brydon Carse, kept the pressure on throughout the innings. The win gives England a 1-0 lead in the series. via Original Source

Multan Test: Root, Brook put England in commanding position against Pakistan

England were trailing by 64 runs when the session ended, with Root batting on 176 and Brook on 141 not out. The former Test captain and Brook were able to score after hitting 12 shots directing towards the boundary and one towering six. Root got to his 65th test fifty earlier with an inside edge and the 33-year-old survived a loud lbw appeal to go past Alastair Cook's record and into the top-five in the all-time list behind Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting and Sachin Tendulkar. After Root, Harry Brook completed his century in the 84th over with eight fours and one six. It was Brook's sixth Test ton and fourth against Pakistan — which came off 118 balls. Resuming on 96-1 after Pakistan amassed 556 in their first innings on a flat pitch at the Multan Cricket Stadium, England lost Z

Sadia Iqbal briefly tops ICC Women's T20I player rankings

Image
Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal has made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman to temporarily hold the top position in the ICC T20 player rankings. The spinner achieved this milestone by surpassing England's Sophie Ecclestone, who has dominated the rankings since February 2020. Sadia Iqbal briefly took the lead in the rankings after taking three wickets for just 17 runs in the opening match of the Women's T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka. However, by the end of the week, Ecclestone regained her position, leaving Iqbal in second place. The two bowlers are separated by a mere eight rating points, with Ecclestone currently at 762 and Iqbal at 754. With the ongoing mega event, there is a possibility that Saadia Iqbal could reclaim the top position once again. This year has been outstanding for Iqbal, who has taken 28 wickets in 17 matches, making her one of the most formidable bowlers in the T20 format. Notably, former Pakistan captain Sana Mir is the only other Pakistan

PAK vs ENG: Salman Ali Agha remains unbeaten as Pakistan bowled out for 556

The innings was over after Abrar Ahmed (3) was caught by Duckett while Salman Ali Agha stood till the end after making 104 runs off 119 balls. The second day kicked off with Pakistan at 328/4 with Saud Shakeel and Naseem Shah, on the crease. Shah (33) was dismissed after Harry Brook caught the ball in the 105.4 overs. The right-arm fast bowler smacked three sixes, denying England a breakthrough in the first hour, despite suffering hits to the helmet and his bowling hand. His 82-ball defiance finally came to an end when he tickled Brydon Carse to Harry Brook at leg slip, giving the debutant seamer his maiden test wicket. The Next man in, Mohammad Rizwan, fell for a 12-ball duck, stepping out against Jack Leach and spooning the ball to Chris Woakes at mid-off. Aiming for a century, Shakeel ended up being caught by Jo
