Shadab Khan Doubtful for Asia Cup 2025 Amid Ongoing Injury Recovery

Image
Pakistan’s vice-captain Shadab Khan is likely to miss the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury sustained earlier this year. The 26-year-old all-rounder underwent surgery in the United Kingdom earlier in July after aggravating the issue that had already ruled him out of Pakistan’s recent T20I assignments against Bangladesh and the ongoing West Indies tour. It is estimated that Shadab will require a minimum of three months to achieve full fitness, making a return before October improbable. This timeframe effectively sidelines him from the Asia Cup, which is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet confirmed any replacement for the T20 vice-captaincy. During the recent series against Bangladesh, no deputy was named in Shadab’s absence, and the squad currently touring the Caribbean also lacks a designated second-in-command to stand-in skipper Salman Ali Agha. An official up...

According to reports, India, as the official host of the tournament, cannot withdraw from the Asia Cup or refuse to play against Pakistan. During a recent ACC meeting held in Dhaka, the Indian cricket board reportedly gave a nod to proceed as planned, effectively ruling out the possibility of a boycott. Citing sources, reports suggest that following the BCCI's formal approval, withdrawing from either the tournament or the high-profile fixture against Pakistan is no longer a viable option. "The BCCI cannot wit...

Scientists Uncover a “Sixth Sense” in the Gut That Controls Appetite Naturally

Image
Gut bacteria communicate directly with the brain to curb hunger, a discovery that could revolutionize weight loss without drugs. Imagine your gut having its own built-in “appetite control system” that works like popular weight-loss drugs but without their side effects. Scientists at Duke University have discovered exactly that, a unique gut-brain communication pathway that naturally signals fullness and helps regulate how much you eat. Researchers found that specialized gut bacteria release a protein called flagellin during meals, which triggers the production of a hormone named PYY in the colon. This hormone activates receptors (called TLR5) in gut cells, sending real-time “stop eating” signals to the brain through what the scientists call a neurobiotic sense, essentially a direct neural link between your digestive system and nervous system. In animal experiments, mice with functioning TLR5 receptors ate less after receiving flagellin, while mice without these receptors consume...

Chikungunya Resurfaces: Is the World Facing Another Silent Epidemic?

Recent outbreaks linked to the Indian Ocean region have now begun to spread beyond, reaching Europe, Southeast Asia, and East Africa, raising alarm among health officials. According to WHO medical officer Dr. Diana Rojas Alvarez, approximately 5.6 billion people across 119 countries are currently living in areas at risk of chikungunya transmission. The virus, which causes high fever, severe joint pain, and in some cases, long-term disability, has re-emerged in several regions that were previously affected during the 2004–2005 outbreak.“We are seeing history repeating itself,” said Dr. Rojas Alvarez, referring to the last epidemic which began in small Indian Ocean island nations before rapidly expanding worldwide. Child’s Death Sparks Fierce Fight Over Vaccine Myths in the UK

Image
As measles claims a young life, false anti-vaccine claims spread fast — health experts rush to set the record straight. A child’s death from measles in the UK has caused shock and urgent calls to vaccinate children. Health officials say misinformation on social media, much of it from the U.S, is making the situation worse. Measles is a serious and highly contagious disease, but it can be prevented with the MMR vaccine given to children. On July 14, the UK Health Secretary confirmed a child died of measles. The child was treated at Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool, which has seen 17 measles cases since June. After the news, some social media influencers falsely claimed the child did not die from measles and called vaccines unsafe. One influencer said measles is “not dangerous,” while another wrongly said no vaccine is proven safe or effective. Liverpool’s top health official, Matthew Ashton, strongly criticized these false claims and urged people to get their children vaccinated. H...
