A cockroach was discovered in a meal served to National Assembly members at the Parliament cafeteria on Tuesday, sparking outrage among lawmakers.

The incident occurred during a meeting of women parliamentarians.

Pakistan People’s Party MNA Dr. Shahida Rehmani confirmed the discovery.

While MNA Naeema Kishwar revealed that this was not the first time such an incident had taken place, claiming cockroaches had been found in meals on previous occasions as well.

Lawmakers voiced strong concern over the repeated lapses in hygiene.

Naeema Kishwar remarked, “We raise our voices against unhygienic food being served to the public, yet we ourselves are subjected to the same unhygienic meals.”

Later, Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq assured the members that an impartial investigation would be initiated soon.
